JOB DESCRIPTION
 
 
 
  Job Summary:
 
The Quality Control Inspector is an entry-level position that works under the direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Supervisor.   The Quality Inspector ensures that the daily incoming, in–process and final products meet or exceed the customer requirements/specifications as specified by SDI standards. Identifies and segregates non-conforming material.
 
 
Specific Responsibilities:
 
  1. Utilize precision measurement tools to ensure product compliance within strict specifications of custom product.
  2. Read detailed blueprints, understand requirements, and apply product knowledge to drive high quality.
  3. Complete/fill out proper quality control forms.
  4. Work productively and safely by following all company policies and procedures.
  5. Perform visual and dimensional inspections as well as specified testing in accordance with established inspection criteria.
  6. Notify quality team lead and or quality supervisor if non-conforming equipment, raw material, sub-assembly or final units have been identified. 
  7. Ensure that proper inspection is performed on reworked product.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure proper care of equipment and small tools.
  9. Support other quality activities as required. 
  10. Follows safety guidelines promoting 5S methodology.
  11. Maintain a high sense of urgency to get the product out on-time.
 
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  
 
  1.     Perform random in-process inspections. 
  2.     Use shop computer for keeping track of internal defects in manufacturing.
  3.     Become familiar with the proper fire rating procedure for doors and frames.
  4.     Other duties as assigned.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
 
 
  • Ability to read the following measurements devices: measuring tape, hook scales, digital/non digital calipers.
  • Entry level computer ability.
  • Ability to read drawings/specification desirable.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Spanish as a second language a plus.
  • Self-starter/self-driven personality.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
 
 
 
Education/Experience:
 
  •       High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  •       Basic computer skills in Outlook, MS Word, and Excel are preferred.
  •       Excellent verbal and written communication skills (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
