What You Will Receive as a Plate Shop Helper/ Deburrer:

  • Starting Wages:  $21.00 – 23.00/hr. (depending on experience)
  • Mon-Fri: DAY SHIFT (6:00 AM - 2:30 pm)
  • Mon- Thurs SWING SHIFT (2:30 PM- 1:00 AM) *Friday (optional for OT)

  What You Will Be Doing as a Plate Shop Helper/ Deburrer:
 
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded. 
  • Assist welders to set up rigs and move them between work areas.
  • Assist with chipping or grinding off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Perform deburring and smoothing operations on metal plates and components using various hand tools and power tools.
  • Assist with cutting, contouring, and beveling metal plates and structural shapes to dimensions as specified by blueprints, layouts, work orders, and templates.
  • Operate overhead and jib cranes
  • Record and maintain accurate documentation of production activities, including plate dimensions and quality inspections.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of plates before and after deburring to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while operating machinery and tools.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize hazards.

What You’ll Need to Have as a Plate Shop Helper/ Deburrer:
 
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Previous experience in metal fabrication
  • Previous experience in deburring and finishing metal components is a plus
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is a plus
  • Ability to operate overhead crane / jib crane (preferred but not required)
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work
  • Good communication skills for working in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift heavy materials when required
  • Ability to work in outdoor or shop environment. 
  • Must be resilient to working in adverse climatic conditions.
