Director of Finance- Gulfport, MS- $68K+

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead and oversee the financial operations of our organization. This position is responsible for managing all accounting and financial functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, strengthening internal financial controls, and providing accurate financial reporting to executive leadership.
The Director of Finance will play a key leadership role in financial planning, budgeting, audit coordination, and operational analysis. This individual will work closely with the Executive Team, department leadership, and external partners to ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Provide leadership and strategic oversight for all financial and accounting operations.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements to the Executive Team and Finance Committee.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support organizational decision-making.
  • Conduct variance analysis and recommend budget adjustments or corrective action when needed.
  • Assist executive leadership with annual budget development and financial forecasting.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal financial controls and best practices.
Accounting Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and purchasing.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and federal funding requirements.
  • Perform or oversee quarterly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with preparation and filing of federal and state tax filings.
  • Coordinate and support the annual independent financial audit.
  • Prepare and submit the annual Medicare Cost Report.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Produce detailed site and service-line financial reports for quarterly review with leadership.
  • Develop financial and operational reports to support analysis across departments.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of revenues, expenses, and funding allocations.
Revenue & Program Financial Management
  • Oversee reconciliation of 340B Pharmacy revenue with third-party administrators, contract pharmacies, and specialty pharmacies.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy staff to ensure accurate claims adjudication.
  • Work with clinical leadership to ensure accurate daily activity reporting and deposit reconciliation.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervise and lead finance staff including accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate finance team members.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen staff skills and maximize team performance.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Operational Support
  • Ensure timely payment and reporting of payroll taxes and benefit deductions, including annual W-2, 1095, and 1099 reporting.
  • Serve as a financial resource to department leaders across the organization.
  • Provide backup support to key financial functions when necessary to maintain operational continuity.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university required.

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in senior accounting or financial leadership roles.
  • Experience managing financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination.
  • Experience with federal funding compliance and governmental accounting practices preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial management practices.
  • Experience with budget development, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with automated and manual accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of federal grant funding requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and sound judgment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
Work Environment
The Director of Finance works closely with executive leadership, department managers, and external partners to support the organization’s financial operations and strategic goals.
