Job Summary:
The Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of engaging activities to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents. This role involves developing recreational, therapeutic, and social programs tailored to meet the unique needs and interests of residents. The ideal candidate will have experience working with senior populations, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to care.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, and lead individual and group activities, such as arts and crafts, music therapy, physical exercise, and social events.
  • Assess the interests and abilities of residents to create personalized activity plans.
  • Ensure activities promote physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being for residents.
  • Coordinate with staff and families to incorporate personal preferences and needs into activity plans.
  • Maintain an active calendar of events and communicate schedules to residents and staff.
  • Monitor and document residents’ participation in activities, providing feedback to the healthcare team.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and interaction among residents.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized activity area.
  • Ensure activities comply with safety regulations and promote overall health.
  • Provide transportation assistance to residents as needed for activities.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with seniors, particularly in a healthcare or care setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate residents.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic recreation and activity planning for individuals with diverse abilities.
  • Compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to working with residents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to lift or assist residents as needed.
  • Background check and adherence to any required health and safety standards.
