What you will be doing as a Machine Operator – Injection Molding:
  • Set up, operate, and monitor injection-molding machines to produce plastic parts according to job specifications.
  • Adjust parameters such as clamp tonnage, shot size, temperatures, and cycle times for production runs.
  • Load/unload molds and confirm correct materials, tooling alignment, and setup accuracy.
  • Perform quality inspections: dimensional checks, visual inspection, surface quality review, verification of inserts/overmolding components.
  • Support overmolding and insert molding operations when required.
  • Conduct minor machine maintenance: purging materials, maintaining mold temperatures, cleaning workstations, and ensuring machines are ready for the next job.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures, production orders, and safety guidelines—maintaining full material traceability.
  • Record production data: cycles, scrap, material usage, downtime, and related documentation.
  • Work with engineering and maintenance teams to identify opportunities to improve cycle times, quality, and process stability.
  • Contribute to maintaining an efficient, clean, and safe workspace.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet productivity and quality goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you need to have as a Machine Operator – Injection Molding:
  • Previous experience operating injection-molding machines in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read job orders, setup sheets, and machine parameter instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset.
  • Good documentation and data-entry skills for recording production information.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks with consistency.
  • Effective communication skills and professional workplace conduct.
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols, dress code, and PPE requirements.
  • Familiarity with engineering materials (e.g., elastomers, filled materials, structural foam) is a plus.
  • Experience with overmolding or insert molding preferred.
  • Knowledge of mold cleaning, changeovers, or preventive maintenance is beneficial.
  • Experience with a range of press sizes (e.g., 18–310 tons) is preferred.
