A PPEC (Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care) is a nurse-staffed pediatric day care center for medically complex children age birth to 21 years. Staff provide specialized clinical care throughout the day in classroom, dining, play, and clinical settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Nursing is responsible for staffing, clinical care, employee development and morale and operations of the Prescribed Pediatric Care Center.  Director is available during open hours and sets the tone for accountable care by leading by example.  Supervises and coordinates clinical care based on assessment data and current best practices.  Demonstrates the core nursing competencies established by company and ensures compliance with the company’s standards and guidelines. Ensures compliance with all Federal and State Regulations.

• Ensures compliance with all State, Federal and Medicaid Regulations and company policies and procedures including documentation and records retention guidelines;
• Organizes and directs the clinical operations of the Center and ensures compliance with each prescribed Plan of Treatment;
• Supervises all licensed and non-licensed Center staff including hiring, orienting, onboarding, progressive discipline, mentoring and professional development;
• Ensures timely completion of clinical documentation including assessments, reassessments, physician orders, and collaborative communication;
• Ensures ongoing observation, monitoring and intervention based on individual attendee conditions;
• Participates in ongoing quality improvement processes and projects;
• Ensures emergency preparedness through regularly scheduled facility and equipment inspections and testing, reporting and addressing deficiencies to Banyan leadership;
• Other duties as assigned

Competencies, Education and Credentials:
The Director of Nursing shall be a Florida Registered Nurse and meet the following qualifications:

• Current Florida Registered Nurse license
• Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Minimum two years general pediatric nursing experience of which at least six months shall have been spent caring for medically fragile infants or children in a pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, PPEC or similar care setting during the past five years
• Supervisory and leadership experience

• Evidence of negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
• Negative drug screen
• Level 2 Florida background screening
• Ability to stand, lift or assist in lifting the patient for feeding, changing, bathing and emergency response
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat and generally demonstrate flexibility to meet the care needs of the patient
• Ability to see with visual and listen with hearing acuity to appropriately monitor the patient and associated medical equipment
• Strength and manual dexterity, including grasping and manipulating small objects, to operate medical equipment appropriately
• Ability to respond in emergency situations
